Door Supervisor Up-Skilling Course
In March 2012 the SIA announced the intention to require existing door supervisors who had achieved the pre-QCF Door Supervision qualification (for example the National Certificate for Door Supervision) to undertake additional training in order to renew their licence.
The new qualification comprises the following two mandatory units:
Unit 1 – Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry.
Moving Techniques and Safe Handling, Non-Restrictive & Restrictive Control Techniques, as well as Break-Away Techniques will be covered through physical practice. This section is reinforced with knowlege on the Law(s) in relation to the ‘Use or Force’, Human Rights, Criminal & Common Law.. And Health & Safety too.
25-question multiple-choice examination paper.
Successful candidates must achieve a score of at least 20 out of 25.
Examination duration – 40 minutes.
Guided learning hours for this unit are 10 hours.
Unit 2 – Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors.
This Unit of the Up-Skilling covers briefly the need for Counter Terrorism Awareness, First Aid Awareness in the Private Security Industry, and also covers the subjects of dealing with Children, Young People and Vulnerable Persons.
10-question multiple-choice examination paper.
Successful candidates must achieve a score of at least 7 out of 10.
Examination duration – 20 minutes.
Guided learning hours for this unit are 2 hours.
